Blimey, 2024—what a year it was! I’ve been meaning to sit down and write this, but it’s been non-stop, hasn’t it? It feels like only yesterday I was piping poinsettias for Christmas orders, and now we are diving headfirst into 2025. Before we get stuck into what’s next, I wanted to take a moment to look back at the highlights of the past year. And what a year it was!
First off, I have to mention something that still feels a bit surreal. I was absolutely chuffed to be nominated for Cupcake Artist of the Year at the D’licious Magazine DMA Awards. The messages, the votes, and the support you’ve given me—it’s been incredible. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Buttercream Bloom Awards: Seasonal Masterpieces
This year’s Buttercream Bloom Awards were absolutely brilliant. If you’re new around here, this is the event where I get to celebrate all of you and your stunning buttercream creations. 2024 saw some of the most creative entries I’ve ever laid eyes on—seriously, you lot never fail to blow me away.
This year’s Honourable Mention category, introduced in 2023, was a real treat. It’s such a lovely way to spotlight a moving story that deserved a huge round of applause. I loved seeing all the seasonal entries, stunning! The autumn ones of course were my favourites, with all those warm colours and detailed leaves, just gorgeous.
If you entered, whether you won or not, I just want to say thank you for putting your heart into it. The BBA’s are all about celebrating what we love about buttercream, and it wouldn’t be what it is without your amazing creations.
Your Progress Has Been Incredible
One of my favourite things about this year has been watching so many of you grow. Whether you are just starting out or you’ve been piping for years, seeing your confidence build and your skills improve has been the best part of my job.
Every time I scrolled through Instagram or TikTok, I saw your creations, and they just made my day. Honestly, what a talented bunch!
Building the Community
2024 wasn’t just about piping, though—it was about people. One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built together. Whether it’s on Instagram, TikTok, or in my Facebook groups, it’s been amazing to see how much support and kindness you all show each other.
You are the reason I love doing what I do, and I can’t wait to hear more of your journeys in 2025.
Looking Ahead
Right, enough about 2024—what’s next? This year, I’ll be focusing on more live workshops one to ones both digital and in person bookings are rolling in and of course, and even more business tips for those of you wanting to take your piping to the next level.
Oh, and the Buttercream Bloom Awards 2025 are already in the works, with some fun surprises planned, including a new category to recognise Emerging Artists. Keep an eye out for that…
